Things I never thought I would need to know

As I have stepped away from teaching this year and am working with an NGO I'm finding myself doing a lot of new things. Some I anticipated, others I didn't. Many I never knew it was something to know or do.

So what is it I've been spending my time doing?

1. Posting on H&D's facebook page daily (or trying to). I only joined facebook a few years back because I was forced to, and never intended to spend as much time on it as I have this past week.

2. Filing for incorporation status. I knew it could be done, but never expected to be doing this myself. After all, teachers don't start non-profit businesses!

3. Being asked to form a pro forma budget. My brain exploded when I heard this term. Not only did I never expect to have to do this, I never new this term existed before this week. I can write lesson plans all day long, but writing budgets is about like speaking latin to me.

While there is much that is new, many things are familiar. I have a teacher workshop to plan for, and am enjoying planning lessons and preparing materials. I have also been working on a newsletter to keep supporters updated. Since coming to Nicaragua this is certainly nothing new!

All in all, it's been a good week. Sometimes crazy busy and other times pleasantly quiet. Last Sunday's sermon was from the book of Esther, and the phrase "for such a time as this" has been running through my mind all week. It's helped me to be in the moment no matter what I'm doing, and giving it my all as I trust that God has placed me here for such a time as this.
